Mental health is real Stop playing with us.

Have you all ever mentally checked out of a job? I thoroughly love what I do but the environment is literally so mentally draining and is overflowing with poor management....I’m trying to hold out till the end of the year (my FMLA leave helps because I will be out from 9/23 to 11/4) but good Lord, my heart just doesn’t care for this place anymore...😭🤦🏽‍♀️

Me now. Very poor mgmt. Operating on a fumes budget, barely there staff, dated practices/beliefs, and continuous emergency/asap actions to make up for piss poor planning…

My life right now! The work environment is toxic and unhealthy for the quality workers they have

I have had my share of mental breakdowns and I am not ashamed to admit it.

The story I share here is my break due to Construction corporate Hell Slave shit.

I've been working with a Black female therapist lately to deal with my PTSD and discontent with my current job.

A recent idea she explained to me really hit home. I'm going thru a situation in which a member of a peer's team is an issue.  I've tried to coach and even step in, but of course haven't been successful in turning the situation around. I've even landed in the line of fire with a hostile work environment claim.

My therapist asked me why I was acting personally responsible? There's another whole equal and our joint leadership that should be handling the situation.  I countered that I'm more qualified. She tells me and yet, it is still not formally your role, nor does your compensation reflect it.

Well damn.

She then highlighted that the situation is merely a symptom of a bigger illness of the organization. A healthy,  well managed group doesn't tolerate or have this. Even if I solve this problem, it's just a symptom. The organization will replace that person with another problem, which I will foolishly hustle to fix. 

Why is your peace worth less than their responsibility? She asked.

Well damn.

So I ask you,  brethren, are you doing too much and trying too hard for what you think is the greater good or the best for everyone? We want to be the superhero,  but some ain't trying to be saved.

Shyt rolls downhill, not uphill for a reason. Step out of the way of that landslide so you can continue your climb up the mountain.
